As a Pastor, I frequently hang with the hopeless; those who believe that hope has been drained from life. The broken who think that God probably doesn’t care, that maybe he doesn’t even exist, that possibly this life is just a cruel joke.
On a horrible Saturday morning, a handful of God followers knew that brand of hopelessness. They cast their vote for a strange man named Jesus, a man unlike any they had ever known. Filled with hope for the future, they watched it all spiral out of control in a matter of days, culminating in a very public death of someone they desperately loved. They had hung their future on his crazy promises and now he was gone.
That was Saturday. On Sunday, everything changed. Because on that one Sunday morning, the rising sun revealed the risen Son. Death had been exchanged for life, sorrow for joy, pain for healing. Hopelessness had been replaced with hope.
He is powerful over not only death, but also life. He cares. He loves. He calls. This morning He calls you. What will you say?
